Cream male, blue tortie female, two blue silver tortie females and lilac tortie female born 12th July 2013 from Kazizkatz Crystalpaws Mars (Mars) x Crystalpaws Vanilla Essence (Nessie)
All reserved.

Nessie had her kittens at quite a nice time of day, just as we were getting up and on the day that they were due:-) The first kitten was the biggest, which didn't make it the easiest birth at first but Nessie managed well. The first two were born within twenty minutes of each other but Nessie then had a rest for an hour and a half before having the other three. We have had to supplement the kittens for the first couple of days but they have all started feeding well now and Nessie seems to have settled well.

At one day old

At one week old, Nessie's kittens are doing well. They are gaining weight a bit slower than I would like but I think the heatwave is the main reason for this. They should double their birth weight in the next day or so. Nessie is proving to be an excellent mum and is very relaxed and happy:-)

At two weeks old, Nessie's kittens have now all more than doubled their birth weight. Some have their eyes fully open and the others are starting to open. They hold their heads up and respond to my voice. The girls are all feeding really well from Nessie but I am still supplementing the boy as he doesn't seem to be getting enough from Nessie. The male also had a bit of an infection around his belly button when his cord fell off, so this put him off his milk a bit but, after some antibiotics, he seems to be doing much better - even if it is from me hand-feeding him:-)

At three weeks old, Nessie's kittens are now out of their kitten box and are running around their kittens pen. The lilac tortie girl still hasn't fully opened her eyes but they are close. I am still having to hand feed the cream male, as he doesn't seem to get enough milk from Nessie.

At four weeks old, Nessie's kittens are becoming far more boisterous with their play fighting. The lilac tortie girl now has her eyes fully open - she opened them the day after the three week pictures! The cream boy is starting to show some interest in solid food - hopefully I will be able to stop hand-feeding him soon:-)

At five weeks old, Nessie's kittens have now moved downstairs and are starting to play with Rosie and Fleur's kittens. The girls are starting to eat their mum's food but the cream boy only has a few licks at the food, so I am still feeding him - every time he sees me he runs towards me meowing:-)

At six weeks old, Nessie's kittens are now eating well. The cream male is now really tucking into his food and doesn't want any more milk - he still runs towards me meowing but now just wants a cuddle:-)

At seven weeks old, Nessie's kittens are getting quite chunky and much more boisterous with their play. One of the blue silver tortie females still seem to prefer Nessie's milk to solid food but she is starting to tuck in much more than she did.

At eight weeks old, all of Nessie's kittens are all finally eating solid food:-) The little girl who wasn't keen on solid food is now the first to the plate.

At ten weeks old, Nessie's kittens have had their first vaccinations and vet checks. The little boy has been really off his food and has been a bit poorly, so he is back on antibiotics as our vet thinks he may still have a bit of the infection from his umbilical cord hanging around. He is eating better but has lost weight and is being very fussy about his food. The vet was really pleased with all of the others, including the little girl:-)

At eleven weeks old, Nessie's girls are all growing really well. The blue tortie and one of the blue silver torties are looking much less fluffy now. the small blue silver tortie female and the lilac tortie female are still a bit fluffy:-) The male is still not eating very well, he is maintaining his weight but is not gaining - we are really keeping our fingers crossed that he will pull through.
